Rebecca focuses on environmental and human interest stories. She was a finalist in the 2021 Fraser MacDougall Prize for Best New Canadian Voice in Human Rights Reporting and was awarded the Peter Stursberg Award in Conflict Journalism and Media Studies. With a successful history in journalism, communications and marketing strategy, I bring a diverse skill set and a results-oriented mindset.

During her tenure at Carleton University, she served as a Mentorship & Leadership Programming Assistant handling the University's social media accounts. She is well-versed in performing media relation duties, crisis management and developing media materials, speaking notes and key messages.
In her recent role as an LJI reporter with Metroland Media Group, Rebecca works with all levels of government to report on accurate and important community information. She covers Dufferin County for the Orangeville Banner and developed a deep understanding of how municipalities work and the specific language that is used.
A bold person and risk-taker: When Rebecca is passionate about a story, she will do whatever she can to bring it to light. While completing her Master of Journalism, she booked a trip in 24 hours to Ottawa from Toronto to drive another five hours to the Anishinaabe du Lac Simon community in Quebec. She spent two hours in the community before driving another five hours back to Ottawa.
