Who is Rebecca Weston

I am a writer, photographer, audio producer and editor focusing on environmental and human interest stories. I am inspired by things that are happening around me and use that to create stories that have different perspectives on issues. Using trauma-informed reporting skills, I do my best to make the people I interview feel a sense of control during conversations about sensitive topics. At the end of the day, it is their story, I am just helping them share it.

I am a bold person and risk-taker: when I feel passionate about a story, I will do whatever I can to bring it to light. While completing my Master of Journalism, I booked a trip in 24 hours to Ottawa from Toronto to drive another five hours to the Anishinaabe du Lac Simon community in Quebec. I spent two hours in the community before driving another five hours back to Ottawa.

I have bylines in the Orangeville Banner, the Caledon Citizen, and The Windsor Star. I am interested in writing features and in-depth reporting. To enhance my writing, I use my photography skills to immerse people in these articles. Along with photojournalism, I am also a family and portrait photographer. My main goal when photographing people is to ensure they feel comfortable.
